We arrived in Positano just as the afternoon light was turning everything gold. The bus from Sorrento hugs the cliff road the whole way, and every curve opens onto another view you want to photograph and know you can’t.
Where we stayed
A small guesthouse halfway up the hill — which in Positano means roughly two hundred stairs between you and breakfast. Worth every step for the terrace alone.
The days, loosely
The best decision we made was not planning much. One day was just the ferry to Amalfi and back, gelato in hand. Another was the Path of the Gods walk, which earns its name about twenty minutes in.
The itinerary that worked was barely an itinerary at all.
What I’d tell you
Take the ferry instead of the bus when you can, book dinner earlier than feels necessary, and leave one afternoon completely empty. That empty afternoon will end up being the thing you remember.
